Instructor Bio:
Sonny Sahota, is a Canadian grappler and Judo Black Belt. Sonny has over 30 years of martial arts experience. He has been devoted to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the last 17 years, both in the gi and in no-gi.
He is a full-time instructor at Kensington Judo Club in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Sonny also has collegiate and freestyle wrestling experience and has trained with high-level coaches from Canada, the US and India.
Sahota has an effective teaching style and a passion for grappling that is very clear in his Instructional on Athletes Ocean. He uses two learning methods:
- The cognitive path is an analytical and systematic approach. Principals of physics and biomechanics are used to explain how techniques work along with applications in practice.
- The perceptual path based on principles from ecological psychology; where objects in our environment is scaled by our ability to interact with them in order to increase skill acquisition.
